Fallen Eagles

Pam Kelly (Steinbach)

Pamela Maureen Kelly Steinbach was born June 15, 1951 in San Saba, Texas. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 9, 2021.

A woman of endearing contradictions, Pam was a proud Texan but loved British shows and culture having visited multiple European countries in college. She enjoyed long drives with her husband exploring small Texas towns, admiring gardens, and soaking in history. She also likely set the record for reading fiction Tom Clancy novels.

Pam wanted to be a forest ranger, but back then they didn’t allow women in the program. She settled for becoming an avid gardener and registered dietitian after graduating from Steven F. Austin University in 1973. At SFA she once got in trouble for wearing jeans to home economics. She was a quiet rebel that way.

During her later years, Pamela faced multiple health challenges but remained strong in her faith and with her husband by her side. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she spent some of her last hours with them before leaving this earth.

She is survived by husband Earl W. Steinbach, daughter Rachel Meier (Seth), grandchildren Jacob and Sloane Meier, brother Reland Kelly (Jan), nephew Ryan Kelly (Mayra) and great niece Juliana, brother-in-law Carl Steinbach (Ann) and their children and grandchildren.

The best way to honor Pam’s life is to plant some flowers, eat some chocolate cake with butter, and remember that people face many battles in private. To those who knew Pam, remember her in her best light, hear her laugh, see her beautiful smile, and be at peace that she is surrounded by angels.
